If you have a Leeds bucket list, here are some activities you might want to add on…

Do The Otley Run

You probably know about the Otley Run but this really is a quintessential Leeds bucket list experience for students. Get your friends together, decide on your fancy dress and start the Otley Run at Woodies Craft Ale House where you can start on the craft beer, real ales or spirits. It’s the first of 16 bars on the Otley Run so take it steady and pace yourself because this is going to be a day to remember.

Light Night Leeds

Every year, the whole city of Leeds lights up with cool light art and installations. This year, in 2018, Light Night Leeds take place on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th October and it’s free for everyone to attend. From Leeds Dock to Leeds University, there are pieces of art all over the city so wrap up warm as not only is this a good time to see some cool art, it’s also a good time to explore parts of the city you might not see otherwise.

Leeds Festival

Leeds Festival brings in crowds from all over the country so while you’re studying in Leeds, it would be rude to not go wouldn’t it? It’s the main rock, punk and indie festival of the season and you’ll get the chance to see bands such as Muse, Panic! At The Disco, Kings Of Leon, and Fall Out Boy. Go for the day or the whole weekend but whatever you do, don’t miss out!

Catch A Film At Hyde Park Picture House

Hyde Park Picture House has legendary status in Headingley and Leeds. It’s a real local treasure and if you’re a film fan, you need to visit this place to sit on the plush red velvet seats in this theatre style cinema. Grab your bag of popcorn and enjoy a film in the oldest cinema in the UK.

Experiential Cocktails At Below Stairs

Work hard, play hard. That’s how to do things at IconInc, and with that in mind you definitely deserve to wind down after writing essays or studying in the library. The perfect place to do that is Below Stairs where you’ll find some of the most experiential cocktails in Leeds. All created for this specific venue, you know you’re getting an exclusive drink at Below Stairs. Choose from drinks such as 109 Miles To Filey, The Sun Rises, or Cut Grass which all tell a story, or are inspired by emotive elements. If none of these take your fancy, you can ask the bartenders to create a favourite cocktail of your choice.

The water taxi at Leeds Dock might not seem like much but it’s a true little treasure of Leeds. It’s free, it takes you from Leeds Dock to Granary Wharf, and it turns into a tour of Leeds waterways. Opened in 2014 by chef Michael O’Hare, The Man Behind The Curtain has built up a huge reputation in Leeds and was awarded its first Michelin Star in October 2015. The Diffusion Line is another option and perfect for couples looking for a great date night – for only £65pp you get to devour 12 snacks and 4 cocktails which are created to complement your food.
