The holiday season is upon us, and for students living in the UK, it's the perfect time to experience the magic of Christmas in a new cultural setting. Whether you're an international student far from home or a UK native enjoying the winter break, there are plenty of festive activities to make your Christmas memorable. Let's explore some delightful ideas to make the most of the holiday season in your student accommodation in Leeds, student accommodation in Lincoln or student accommodation in Liverpool!
1. Join us for Seasonal Soirees:
This winter break we want everyone spending time with us to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy it to the fullest! That’s why we’ve already started off the celebrations; throughout December we will be hosting a number of events to keep the fun vibes going and help everyone relax and get away from the deadlines to spend a few stress-free hours with us! Some of our events this month include…
- Christmas Market Social
- Christmas Party
- Christmas Tree Decoration Workshop
- Gingerbread House Decorating
- Festive Wreath Making
- Christmas Eve Pyjama Party
- Christmas Day Festivities
2. Explore Further Afield:
Travelling between semesters is a great way to get away from any work stress and take a well needed breather. Take a trip through Europe to discover neighbouring countries and all they have to offer. However, it’s also the perfect time to discover more of the UK and see the natural beauty, festive cities and historical sites, just a train ride away! Day trips are great, or you could opt for an overnight stay with our sister company, Roomzzz Aparthotels!
3. Visit Christmas Markets:
One of the best ways to soak in the festive atmosphere is by visiting Christmas markets. If you missed the chance with us, cities across the UK come alive with twinkling lights, charming stalls, and the aroma of seasonal treats. Indulge in festive favs, sample international delicacies, and pick up unique gifts for your loved ones.
4. Join Community Celebrations:
Check out local events and community celebrations happening in your area. From tree lighting ceremonies to carol singing, these gatherings offer a chance to connect with locals and share in the joy of the season.
5. Host a Festive Gathering:
You could also consider hosting a Christmas get-together with friends! Organise a potluck dinner where each person contributes a dish from their home country, creating a diverse and delicious feast. Our Mega kitchens and extensive communal lounges are perfect for this and make for a great setting for dinners with friends.
6. Volunteer for a Good Cause:
Spread the holiday cheer by volunteering for charity events or community service projects. Many organisations welcome helping hands during the festive season, and it's a wonderful way to give back to the community. If you’d like to get involved, we’re running a toy donation at Iconinc in partnership with the Parklane Foundation With the cost of living crisis still very prevalent, this Christmas many children in the UK will go without the joy of receiving presents. This year, we are working with Broomfield Special Education Needs School. Most of these children won’t receive Christmas presents so that’s where we come in! We’re collecting donations under our gifting trees to be able to bring joy to these children during the festive period. If you’d like to get involved, speak to the concierge team who will be able to let you know how you can get involved!
7. Participate in Secret Santa:
Organise a Secret Santa gift exchange with your friends or classmates. It adds an element of surprise and ensures everyone gets a thoughtful present during the holiday season; just find a group of you to participate, set a budget and come together to experience the joy together!
Remember, the holiday season is a time to create lasting memories and build connections. Embrace the festive spirit, try new traditions, and cherish the unique experience of celebrating Christmas in the UK. From all of us at Iconinc, we hope you have a joyful and memorable holiday season!
