If your happiness at university depends on where you can get a decent beer in the evening or throw some shapes well into the night, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s our selection of watering holes that lie close to our brand new luxury student accommodation in Liverpool, The Ascent, due to open in September 2017:

    Roscoe Head

    24 Roscoe St, Liverpool L1 2SX

If you consider yourself to be part of the real ale revolution (not necessarily by brewing it, if you catch our drift), you’re going to want to show your face at Roscoe Head. It’s a short walk from The Ascent and it’ll make a lasting impact on your love of proper beer.

    Pogue Mahone

    77 Seel St, Liverpool L1 4BB

In the popular Ropewalks district of the city, around the corner from some of the best places to eat near The Ascent, is this quintessentially Irish pub. As well as a bloody good time, they offer you a steak dinner on Wednesdays for – wait for it – just a fiver.

    Cavern Club

    10 Mathew St, Liverpool L2 6RE

The most famous band in the history of music was discovered in the Cavern. Need we say any more? It’s still a great place to catch some live music to this day – they plug in the mics in the middle of the afternoon and don’t stop until late in the evening.

    Rubber Soul

Cavern Walks, 9 Mathew St, Liverpool L2 6RE

A few doors down from the Cav is another Beatles-inspired venue in Rubber Soul. It’s a top place to watch sports on the big screen and, of course, to get your groove on on your even bigger nights out.

    BrewDog Liverpool

Manolis Yard, 8 Colquitt St, Liverpool L1 4DE

Spearheading the craft ale revolution that is sweeping the UK, BrewDog has nailed it again with its Liverpool bar. You’ll find a nostalgic selection of. board games to take you back to your childhood and an unbeatable selection of BrewDog ales to keep your tastebuds happy

    Walkabout

Concert Square, 26 Fleet St, Liverpool L1 4AN

You can’t expect any frills from Walkabout, but what you can expect is one of the best places to watch the football on the big screen in the city. There’ll be plenty of fellow students in there every night of the week.

    Fly in the Loaf

    13 Hardman St, Liverpool L1 9AS

If world beers are your thing, you’ll find over 60 of them at Fly in the Loaf. It’s in the immediate vicinity of Liverpool John Moores University, so it’s perfectly situated for a beer after a heavy study session.
