Oct, '26Should I Renew My Student Accommodation for Next Year? 7 Reasons to Book Early
You’ve only just unpacked, found your favourite coffee spot and worked out the quickest route to university… so why is everyone already talking about where they’re living next year?
It might feel early, but October is when many students start thinking about their accommodation for the following academic year. And if you’re already happy with where you live, renewing early can save you from starting the accommodation search all over again.
If you’re currently living with Iconinc, there’s even more reason to get ahead.
Current residents in Glasgow, Liverpool and Lincoln who renew by 15 October, and residents in Leeds who renew by 20 October, can get first dibs on apartments, a price freeze and free laundry during term time.
Still deciding? Here are seven reasons why renewing your student accommodation early could be a very smart move.
1. You get first choice of apartments
Found an apartment you love? Or spent the past few weeks eyeing up another apartment in the building?
One of the biggest benefits of renewing early is choice.
Waiting until later in the year can mean the most sought-after apartment types and locations have already been snapped up by somebody else.
As an Iconinc resident renewing during our renewal period, you'll get first dibs on apartments before they're released to the general public.
That means you can speak to the team about staying exactly where you are or explore whether another apartment might suit you even better next year.
2. You can freeze your price
Student budgets matter. Knowing what one of your biggest costs will be next year can make planning much easier.
That's why eligible Iconinc residents who renew within the October renewal period can benefit from a price freeze.
Instead of waiting to see what happens later in the booking cycle, you can secure your accommodation and know where you stand.
One less thing to think about? We'll take that.
3. You can get free laundry during term time
Yes, you read that correctly.
Renew your Iconinc apartment within the applicable renewal period and you'll also receive free laundry during term time.
It's one of those everyday costs that can quickly add up over the course of an academic year, so having it taken care of is a pretty lovely perk of deciding early.
4. You already know what you're getting
Moving somewhere new always involves an element of the unknown.
What's the building actually like? Will you feel comfortable there? What's the team like? Are the facilities as good as they looked online? Will you meet people?
When you renew somewhere you've already lived, those questions disappear.
You know your apartment. You know the building. You know the team. You know the places where you like to study, exercise and unwind.
At Iconinc, there's much more beyond your individual apartment, with spaces designed for studying, relaxing, exercising and spending time with other residents.
And importantly, you're already part of the community.
If Iconinc feels like home, why start from scratch?
5. You can take next year's accommodation off your to-do list
University life gets busy quickly.
Before you know it, deadlines are stacking up, exams are approaching and your calendar is full.
Finding student accommodation can involve researching locations, comparing properties, arranging viewings, understanding contracts and working out what is and isn't included.
Renewing early means you can tick one pretty big job off the list.
Accommodation for next year? Sorted.
You can then get back to concentrating on everything you're actually at university to do – and enjoying yourself along the way.
6. You can stay part of the community you've already built
The first few weeks at university are all about finding your feet.
You meet new people, discover your city and gradually turn a new apartment into somewhere that feels like home.
By the end of your first year, you might have your favourite corner of the building, know the team by name and have made friends you regularly see at events or around the communal spaces.
Iconinc is designed to be more than somewhere you sleep.
Our community brings together students from around the world, while our social spaces, events and shared facilities give you plenty of opportunities to connect.
Renewing means you don't have to leave all of that behind just because the academic year ends.
7. You can enjoy the rest of the year knowing next year is sorted
There is something very satisfying about knowing exactly where you're going to live next September.
No frantic property searches.
No wondering whether you'll find somewhere.
No compromising because you left it too late.
Just the reassurance that your next student home is already waiting for you.
And if you've found somewhere that helps you live well, study well and feel at home, staying put can be the easiest decision you make all year.
When should you renew your student accommodation?
There isn't one date that applies to every student accommodation provider. However, accommodation for the following academic year often begins appearing surprisingly early.
If you already know you'd like to stay in your current accommodation, renewing early can give you a better chance of securing the apartment or apartment type you want.
At Iconinc, we're giving our existing residents priority before apartments become available to everyone else.
Glasgow, Liverpool and Lincoln
Current residents at The Bonnie in Glasgow, The Ascent in Liverpool and Gravity in Lincoln have until 15 October to take advantage of our resident renewal offer.
Leeds
Current residents at The Edge and The Glassworks in Leeds have until 20 October.
What do Iconinc residents get for renewing early?
Renew within your property's renewal window and you can enjoy:
First dibs on apartments
A price freeze
Free laundry during term time
The chance to stay in the Iconinc community you already call home
Most importantly, you'll have next year's accommodation sorted before the academic year has really got going.
Ready to stay?
If Iconinc already feels like home, we'd love to have you back.
Speak to your Iconinc team about renewing for the next academic year and choosing your apartment before bookings open more widely.
Glasgow, Liverpool and Lincoln residents: renew by 15 October.

Same Iconinc lifestyle. Another year of memories. And one very big thing ticked off next year's to-do list.
